The Contemporary Theater Company has announced that its popular show, Slamming Doors, has extended its run with additional performances on September 8 and 9.

Slamming Doors features six of the company’s most experienced improvisers making up a completely new play every night. This show marks a new adventure for the company that has two weekly short-form improv shows but has never before performed a full-length improvised play.

“I’ve been doing improv for the better part of 15 years,” says cast member Jim Foley. “but until now I’ve never gotten the chance to up the stakes and throw costumes and sets into the mix, so Slamming Doors feels alive in a totally unique way.”

Crowds have been loving the hilarious spur of the moment performances.

“We have had a lot of repeat audience members who see the show two or three times,” says Communications Director Maggie Cady. “It’s completely different every time, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to share it with more audiences in the extension!”

At the beginning of the show, the audience choose the country where the play takes place and the location of the first act.

“[We] experience it brand new, every night along with the audience,” says cast member Chrisitne Cauchon.

The cast includes Cauchon, Foley, Ashley Macamaux, Charlie Santos, Val Tarantino, and Witt Tarantino, who all have years of experience in both scripted and improvised work at the CTC.

“With years of training, travel, guest instruction, and dedicated study, our top improvisers have developed a reputation locally and nationally for creating unique and vibrant stories on the fly,” says Christopher Simpson, who is co-directing the show alongside Ouardane Jouannot.

Slamming Doors has performances September 1-3 and 8-9 all at 7 pm.
