The Contemporary Theater Company is led by an all-volunteer Board of Directors that guides the overall direction of the company. Day-to-day operations are led by Artistic Director Christopher J. Simpson and a team of staff and volunteers. To see the entire ensemble click here.

President Terrence Simpson

Terrence is a local lawyer and deeply involved with the community.

Director Joe Viele

Joe owns Liberty Rentals in Wakefield and is dedicated to helping grow the arts.

Director Carla Davis

Carla owns Dove and Distaff in Wakefield and is a lifetime resident of South County and enthusiatic supporter of the CTC.

Director Noel Simpson

Noel is deputy director & chief financial officer at the R.I. Student Loan Authority and helps us keep our numbers straight.

Director Wendy Bucci

Wendy is the Chief Operations Officer at the URI Foundation.

Director Marc Popkin

Marc is a local lawyer with a long-time interest in theater and the arts.

Director Gina Catalano

Gina works in the financial sector and has a great interest in fundraising for the CTC.

Director Stephen Mook

Stephen is a pastor at Generation Church and is dedicated to helping build community in South County and around the theater.

Stephen is a long-time actor and artist with the CTC who is interested in its continued growth and development.



Artistic Director Christopher Simpson

Christopher J Simpson founded the Contemporary Theater Company in 2005 as a part-time project while earning his undergraduate degree in Comparative Literature and Theater at Princeton University, and began working with the theater full-time upon graduating in 2009.  His company obligations include planning and producing the company’s annual season, teaching and mentoring actors, directors, and instructors, and cultivating the company’s community involvement and outreach efforts.
Chris is increasingly sought after as a teacher and performer at theaters and festivals nation-wide, and is developing a workshops to facilitate the growth of positive, connection-based, impactful theater that fosters growth and inclusivity for artists of all types and experience levels.
Chris has worked to grow the Contemporary Theater Company into a major force in South County’s business and cultural landscape, working with artists, community organizers, and business leaders to develop a thriving Main Street district.  He served one year as President of the Wakefield Chapter of Business Networking International and four years as President of the Wakefield Village Association.
He is currently overseeing the CTC’s three-year, one-million-dollar expansion.

Communications Director Maggie Cady

Maggie first appeared onstage at 6 months old as Maggie the Magnificent Mini Magician and has been involved in theater in one way or another ever since.  For most shows, you can find her in the light booth stage managing or running the board.  She is excited to work with the CTC to make the arts a part of the community and the community a part of the arts.
